7 Quick Takes Friday: Freebie Edition

Today I am participating in 7 Quick Takes Friday over at Coversion Diary in order to share with you seven FREE items or resources for Catholics.  We all love getting a great deal on Catholic products, but free is even better!  Here are seven great freebies for you; please share any more in the comments!

Ok, Lacy is a friend of mine (I knew her before Catholic Icing!), so this is a completely biased plug.  But really, if you are a Catholic with young children, there is no reason not to be reading Catholic Icing.  Lacy has tons of creative ideas for celebrating the liturgical year, from crafts to costumes to food.  She also keeps her most of her projects easy and frugal, and all her ideas are FREE.

This Facebook group and website is run by Our Sunday Visitor and posts free stuff every day.  There are a lot of free downloads, free issues of magazines, and free apps.

Catholic Ecards

Ecards can be such a easy and quick way to reach out to someone, and sometimes you want something a little deeper than a singing teddy bear.  Luckily, there a number of sites with free religious ecards.  Check out.
Catholic Cards, Holy Ecards, and Monastery Icons to get you started.

I had heard about this online book-swapping site from other frugal bloggers for years before I finally gave it a try a few month ago.  Well, I'm hooked!  Basically, you mail your unwanted books to other members by inexpensive media mail, and in return get credit for the books you want.  You do of course have to pay for the books you ship, but it is free to join and you get two credits just for joining.  This is a great inexpensive way to  get a chance to read some Catholic books that you can't find in your public library.  You can save a wish list, and then get exclusive access to your selection when it comes up.  They also have audio books, which we have been using in the car with our school carpool.

You can get a free copy of this lovely children's book about an unborn baby from Sophia Institute Press when you recommend the company to six friends.  They have been running this promotion for a while.  I got the book when I was pregnant for my son, and my daughters really enjoyed it.

Online Bible, Catechism, Summa

Is your Bible battered?  Can't find your copy of the Summa?  Do you know that the entire Bible, Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Thomas Aquinas's Summa are available online for all your theological reference needs?

New Missal Video

Everyone is talking about the new translation of the missal that will be officially in use starting the first Sunday of Advent.  My sister sent me this video made by Life Teen, which I found very informative and inspirational.  It's definitely worth the mere ten minutes to educate yourself about these exciting developments in the liturgy.

Well, what are you waiting for?  Go get your fill of free Catholic goodies!
